Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center Pediatrics Department encompasses a network of hospitals, clinics and community based services that are integrally linked through education and research to apply advanced medical science to the patients they serve and an abiding concern for the well-being of children to improve and restore health for New Mexico's youngest residents. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group is the only pediatric practice of its kind in the state of New Mexico. We offer an opportunity to work in a range of clinical, academic, research, and/or community settings. The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is seeking one full-time Staff Nurse to work with the pediatri! c oncology patients. This person will be provide nursing servi! ce for patients with pediatric cancers, both inpatient and outpatient. Other responsibilities include, organizing patient treatment plans, clinic visits, triaging phone calls from families/patients and physicians both within UNM and from outside UNM, coordinating inpatient surgical interventions with the surgical team, inpatient staff, arrange for follow-ups following discharge, and work closely with home care companies to provide home treatment as needed. Educate patients and families on their cancers and provide instruction on proper treatment and care. This is a benefits eligible position. Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of a nationall! y accredited Nursing program; no previous work experience required. State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with New Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications:
Pediatric nursing experience Nursing skills that include drawing blood, starting IVs (preferably in a pediatric setting), knowledge of medications and indications, nursing assessment, and triage skills. Recent experience with insurance referrals and prior authorizations Bilingual Skills in English/Spanish
