Work under the general nursing process while using independent judgment to assign nurses, technicians and nursing care to assigned patients. Designate shift and! schedule assignments, call in staff, send staff home and monitor attendance. Provide clinical leadership for nursing and technician staff. Ensure adequate staff to meet patient census. Supervise staff and patient care delivery on designated shift, and serve as a clinical resource for staff. Complete staff schedules, disciplines, including rounding hiring and termination. Meet with Unit Director reporting any incidents, behavioral issues, and staff concerns. Serve as a role model to promote the SRMC Values, a positive work environment and efficient, quality patient care. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Nursing program (nationally accredited) graduate
Licenses/Certifications :
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in State of New Mexico or as allowed by ! reciprocal agreement by State of New Mexico
IV Certif! ication
CPR Certification or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position
ACLS Certification or must obtain within 6 months of date of position
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing, (obtain by 2015)
Work Experience: Nationally certified in area of specialty within two (2) years of date of hire; TNCC and/or ENPC; Bilingual English/Spanish; Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and , diseases
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabil! itation of physical and mental dysfunctions
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
Knowledge of Bedside Manner and Infection Control
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
Physiological Knowledge
Knowledge in administering medication
Effective clinical and nursing skills
Medical teamwork skills
Multi-tasking skills
Effective communication skills
Health promotion and maintenance abilities
