Perform the duties of Pharmacy Tech I and II as required. Assist the pharmacists with TPN and Chemptherapy drug preparations. Assist pharmacists with on-line aducation of Medicare ! Part D requests. Make collections for all medicare enrollees. Implement and maintain pharmacy systems. Ensure administration of quality standards and records. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following :
TECHNICIAN - perform duties of Tech I and II as required

PREPARATION - Assist Pharmacy Director with TPN and Chemotherapy drug preparations

PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - Maintain and monitor patient assistance program to include procuring medication for UNM Hospitals indigent patients

PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - Research qualifications, drug availability for IDP; assist patients with form completion; submit requests to drug manufactures for patient assistance programs

RECORDS - Maintain logs to include narcotic inventory and other cont! rolled substance records; maintain records on prescriptions di! spensed

DATA - Enter various data into computer and forms, verify data, make corrections and ensure accuracy

REPORTS - May assist with preparation and maintenance of a variety of reports; analyze and interpret reports as required

AUDITS - Review and identify ACUDOSE discrepancies; contact appropriate supervisor for repeated miscounts

QUALITY - Prepare medication variance reports

LICENSES - Maintain licenses for all inpatient, outpatient, and off site pharmacists, interns, and technicians; maintain preceptor records

RECORDS - Maintain pharmacy inspection records

QUALITY - Maintain quality records; ensure compliance with Federal, State, JCAHO and other regulatory requirements

ROBOTICS - Implement and maintain software and hardware associated with Acudose, RxRobot, Optifill and other department systems

SPECIAL PROJECTS - Assist with planning and coordinating of special projects, events and the pha! rmacy quality improvement program; provide and coordinate staff training

MEETINGS - Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures and/or guidelines within assigned area

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Completion of Hospitals Pharmacy Tech training program or equivalent
! Completion of Chemotherapy Drug preparation training within 60 days of position

EXPERIENCE:
2 years Pharmacy Technician experience

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Pharmacy Technician in State of New Mexico

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Bilingual English/Spanish
Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
