TECHNOL RAD GENERAL
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Description: UNM Hospitals is in need of TECHNOL RAD GENERAL right now, this job will be settled in New Mexico. For detail informations about this job opportunity kindly read the description below. Under the general supervision of the Shift Supervisor, provide patient services in a Level I Trauma Center. Perform radiographic procedures for Diagnostic Radiology, apply principles of radiation protection. Th! e delivery of quality service and positive interaction with customers is critical to the completion of all tasks. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Accountability:
PROCEDURES - Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures including portables and the OR; operate imaging equipment, computer and other assistive devices
X-RAY - Follow prescribed techniques to administer general and specific x-rays; adjust equipment; calculate exposure factors, position and immobilize patients as necessary, use appropriate lead shielding
QUALITY CONTROL- Evaluate filming for technical qualities and remedies; provide corrective action to improve quality
OBSERVATION - Observe patient and equipment during procedures; document patient reactions or problems on requisition and report immediately to supervisor
PA! PERWORK - Complete and verify all appropriate paperwork involv! ed in but not limited to exams, patient education, lab results and patient check lists
PATIENT CARE - Assume care for physical needs of the patient during examinations and procedures
IMAGING - Assist physician with imaging process; follow Radiology Department protocols
QUALITY CONTROL - Assume responsibility for portions of the quality control programs and provide instruction as required
SAFETY - Provide protection to patients, family members, staff and self in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards and ALARA
SUPPLIES - Clean assigned area; maintain stock supply levels through inventory control and requisitioning
PATIENT ASSISTANCE - Assist in reception area, scheduling office and/or film library; aid patients and transport them, as necessary
CLINICAL EDUCATION - Instruct specific units of didactic and/or clinical education as required to students, clinical staff and residents
FLOAT - May! be required to float to another work assignment/area
DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Education Requirements:
Graduate Committee on Allied He! alth and Accreditation (AMA), accredited educational program or equivalent
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Radiography)
NM Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program Licensure (formerly RTC)
CPR Certification for Healthcare Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position
Experience Requirements - Preferred:
Trauma center
Bilingual English/Spanish
Physical Demands Requirements:
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
Testing Requirements:
Tuberculin Skin Test required annually
Working Conditions Requirements:
Significant hazard exposure! : Constant risk exposure to unusual elements, i.e., toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials requiring extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment
Required to participate on-call and holidays within area of specialty
