POSITION DETAILS: Permanent - Full-Time

TWO VACANCIES LOCATED WITHIN THE SANTA FE SERVICE UNIT. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION IS TO PROVIDE DIRECT PRIMARY CARE SERVICES AT THE SERVICE UNIT AND SURROUNDING SATELLITE CLINICS.

(One position located at Santa Fe, NM and one position located at Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico). The position serves as a Nurse Practitioner, providing primary health care to individuals and families, including pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients within the community. Maybe required on an as needed basis to cover other facilities within the Service Unit (Santa Fe Indian Hospital, Santa Clara, San Felip! e and Cochiti Health Clinics).

Salary range : $78,355.00 - $96,436.00 (Annually)

Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of all types of illnesses when required; changes or modifies treatment plan within established procedural guidelines, recognizing when to refer the patient to a physician.
Provides comprehensive therapeutic and preventative health services to individual patients, family members and patient groups in an outpatient s! etting.
Primary care for trauma, including suturing, wound care, splinting and simple casts.
Works collaboratively with physician providers and outside consultants on more complex cases or cases requiring specialty care or contract health services. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education : Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

REGISTRATION : Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements , applicants must have had 52 weeks of professional nursing ex! perience equivalent to at least GS-11 grade level.

Professi! onal Nurse Experience : Advanced experience in primary health care, provides direct comprehensive preventive and therapeutic health services to individuals, families or groups. This includes assessing the health status of individuals, managing the care of selected patients and providing treatment, health teaching, counseling, guidance, and instructions to individuals/families so that they participate in a plan of care. This experience may have been gained in hospital, clinics, emergency rooms or community health settings.

SELECTIVE FACTOR : In addition to the qualification requirements, to be rated basically qualified for the position, applicants must demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs).

1. Verification of a current, valid, active, unrestricted license in any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

2. Certification by the appropria! te certifying body (such as the American Nursing Association) as a Nurse Practitioner.

PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE (PHS) LICENSURE POLICY: Each PHS Nurse must possess and maintain a valid, active, current licensure/registration as a professional nurse. Certification is required for all IHS nurse practitioners when moving to a position other than the one presently encumbered. Certification for individuals will be waived only for a position they presently encumber.
