Two to three years colleg! e level courses/Associate’s Degree/Diploma in Respiratory Care. NM Respiratory Care Practitioner License, Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential from the NBRC, ACLS, and/or PALS, BLS required. A year critical care experience required. RRT’s working in Diagnostics must complete the Certified Pulmonary Function Tech Credential from the NBRC within a year of hire and the Registered Pulmonary Funcion Tech credential within 3 years of hire. RRT’s working NIC/PIC must complete the Neonatal Pediatric Specialist credential within a year of hire. RRT’s working Polysomnography must complete the RPSGT or RRT-SDS credential within 2 years of hire Requires detailed knowledge of respiratory care in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done, this level includes interpretation of data. This staff member must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served.

Primary Job Functions

a! ccountability # 1 All Certified Respiratory Therapist job acco! untabilities.

Key job accountability # 2 Assists physicians with Fiber optic Bronchoscopy under departmental policy including monitoring and assessment of the level of consciousness, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems; as well as delivery of IV conscious sedation agents to include drugs in the classification of opiods, benzodiazepines and sedative hypnotics and their reversal agens.

Key job accountability # 3 Initiates ventilator management protocols, implements, and coordinates ventilator management.

Key job accountability # 4 Performs advanced airway care to include tracheotomy changes, extubation and intubation.

Key job accountability # 5 Operates and monitors high frequency ventilators.

Key job accountability # 6 NICU Primary Therapists will also perform: Surfactant delivery, intubation, attend high risk delivery and participate in NIC ground transport team. NRP certification required

Key job accountability # 7 Dia! gnostic Primary Therapists are required to perform PFT testing, bronchoscopies, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

Key job accountability # 8 PIC Primary Therapists are required to perform bedside pediatric bronchoscopies.

Key job accountability # 9 Optional procedures include: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Intubation, Bronchoscopies.

Key job accountability # 10 Initiates and monitors Nitric Oxide delivery.

Key job accountability # 11 Performs other functions as required.
