DUTIES:
The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS), Albuquerque, New Mexico is seeking an anesthesiologist for full time employment. The NMVAHCS has an academic affiliation with the University of New Mexico. The Anesthesiology Service is a small, congenial department consisting of anesthesiologists and CRNA, with anesthesia residents, medical students and SRNAs that rotate through the depart! ment. The position will involve mainly CRNA/resident supervision with some opportunity to perform your own cases. The job allows time for academic study and responsibilities. The anesthesia performed here is cooperative and friendly, and we are motivated to provide anesthetic care equivalent to any. There is no OB, trauma and pediatrics, but otherwise there is a variety of interesting and challenging areas. The NMVAHCS serves as the tertiary referral center for New Mexico, West Texas, eastern Arizona and souther Colorado. The types of procedures done here include but are not limited to: cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, urological and neurological procedures with occasional sedation for GI and interventional radiology. A postoperative epidural service is also included. There are opportunities to perform as much regional anesthesia, including ultrasound guided techniques, as the candidate wishes as well as TEE. Patient care, research, and ! teaching opportunities are available.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Citizenship. Citizen of the United States.

Licensure:
Must have a current full, active, and unrestriced license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, c! urrent licensure.
