The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is seeking one fullâ€"time social worker to work with the pediatric/adult hemophilia and thrombosis patient population in the Ted R. Montoya Program in addition to the pediatric hematology segment of the program. The Ted R.

Montoya Hemophilia Program and Treatment Center was established in 1980 by the New Mexico State Legislature to identify and care for New Mexico residents with bleeding disorders. It is federally recognized as one of 130 comprehensive treatment centers across the nation that provides stateâ€"ofâ€"theâ€"art medical services, psychosocial support, education and research. The social worker is an integral member of the treatment team responsible for inâ€"patient/ outâ€"patient psychosocial support including assessments, treatment plans, resource development and referrals, patient/community outreach, education and research. Interagency collaboration with local, regional and national hemophilia centers is core to providing comprehensive patient services.

Participation in a weekâ€"long hemophilia summer camp is required. A willingness to learn and problem solve insurance related issues is essential, in addition to an understanding of hemophilia treatment and medication expenditures. Coordination and participation in stateâ€"wide education and outreach activities targeting patients/families, schools, health providers, hospital emergency departments and rural communities is based on funding availability. Work with regional hemophilia treatment centers to support research and patient care directed activities is important in advancing patient quality of life.

Assisting with data collection and annual reporting for government entities and funding sources will be required to support the viability of the program. This is a benefits eligible position. Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or directly related Field; at least 6 months of directly related experience which may include internship and/or practicum. NM licensure as LPCC, LPC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent level, OR licensed out of state and eligible for NM licensure. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a social worker in healthcare environment for pediatric and adult patients Experience as a social worker on an interdisciplinary medical team Experience with insurance coordination for patients Experience in presenting educational information to patients and health care workers Experience providing social worker services in the community (i.e.

at schools, in patient homes) Experience collaborating with other healthcare organizations on a regional and/or national level Experience with medical charting in a hospital setting Ability to work independently to achieve tasks Bilingual skills in English/Spanish
