Director of Women Services

Location: Deming, New Mexico

The Director of Women’s Services is responsible for the direction, management and administration of the Labor & Deliver, Postpartum, Nursery and Pediatric Units. The Director maintains adherence to hospital policies, procedures and regulations and participates in an interdisciplinary and inter-facility approach to achieving the mission, philosophy and goals of CHS.

Education:
Graduate of an approved or accredited school of nursing. Certification in specialty area of practice preferred. BSN or healthcare related field preferred.

Experience:
At least two years recent experience as Director of Women’s Services for an acute care hospital (for-profit strongly preferred). Demonstrates skills in communication, conflict resolution and human relations. Exhibits a team approach. Knowledgeable of fiscal, general healthcare issues, trends, quality management and legal aspects of nursing practice and standards. Knowledge and understanding of the entire aging process. Possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public. Able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Requires good interpersonal skills and good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to function effectively in fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines. Position requires some overtime and ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously. Emotional maturity and ability to function effectively under stress. Able to read, write, follow instructions and document care given in English. Ability to plan and organize.

Licenses/Certificates:
Must have CPR and ACLS Certification. Current Registered Nurse licensed required.

Stats:
? Average births per year: 1,000

? Level 2B Nursery with potential to move to Level 3 nursery in 2012 - '13' bed capacity.

? Approx 80-90 deliveries per month - planned 1000 deliveries for 2011 year end

? GYN - 15-20 patients per month

? Occupancy - averages 75%

? OB providers - one practice comprising 4 OB physicians, 2 nurse midwives

? Neonatalogy practice comprises 5 physicians, 4 NP's

? Pediatrics - average 1-2 patients per day annualized

? Primary c section rate for past 2 years 13%. Total c section rate 23% (some of the lowest rates in the southwest part of the country)

? RN Staff experience: L&D average RN experience 8 years; SCN 20 years; PP 12 years.

? 50 direct reports (comprising RN's, OB techs, C.N.A.'s , 1 manager)

The current Director has been here for 4.5 years as Director and previous 4 as CNM.

The staff is cohesive, well trained, and works well as a team. The unit is a well managed area with seasoned staff. There are no current openings.

Beds: 6 private LDRP's, 2 OR's, 2 bed recovery room, triage room and 2 ante partum rooms, post-partum: 12 private rooms, Nursery: capacity for 13 babies

Salary: $85,000-106,267

Relocation assistance: Up to $10,000 (reimbursement)

FTEs: Postpartum-11, Nursery-9, L & D-17, Peds-8

PRN: Postpartum-2, Nursery-4, L & D-2, Peds-1
