Position Summary:

Cannot be in a probationary/trial period 3. Should have Meets Expectations or above overall rating on last performance evaluation The Department of Pediatrics is recruiting for an Accountant II. This position reports directly the Pediatrics Ac! counting Manager and will act as the primary accountant to the! Neonatology division of Pediatrics and two other smaller divisions. This individual will be required to maintain the fiscal operations of the divisions including revenue and expense budget creation, analysis and preparation of reports for management and various audiences, reconciliation and monitoring of both Unrestricted funding and Restricted grants and contracts, salary analysis and distribution, execute and/or oversee various accounting transactions such as journal entries and labor distributions, and monitor the Newborn Transport accounts receivable aging. Will also act as primary owner to select department-wide processes and work with the department administration group to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Knowledge and ability to facilitate adherence to UNM policies and procedures is critical. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required to partner with Division Chiefs, Neonatology Program Manager, Pediatrics accounting team and other department/UNM s! taff on critical daily tasks and adhoc assigned projects or duties. Prior experience in a clinical/medical setting a plus. This is a benefits eligible position. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters in Accounting, Finance or related field Ability to communicate effectively at different levels of organization Experience creating budgets and monitoring fiscal operations of ! a large group/organization Experience reconciling transactions against ! financial system of record (ledger) Experience generating various accounting transactions (Journal Entries, labor distribution) Experience creating or publishing standardized financial information or reports Proficient in using MS Excel to analyze/interpret financial data and prepare financial reports Experience in Banner Finance (or external financial reporting/ledger systems), Hyperion and ePrint to research financial information and documents Detail oriented Experience monitoring accounts receivable aging reports and entries Initiative to improve processes and resolve issues independently or as a team
