Post by Jobing - RNâ€" Operating Room (Pool) Location: Sandoval Regional Medical Center Job Code: 408 # of Openings: 1 Description Operating Room Nurse Promote and re! store patients' health through direct nursing care to assigned patients within the nursing process; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervise assigned team members. Provide clinical leadership for other staff and assume relief charge duties when designated. Demonstrate adherence to proper surgical procedures with strict aseptic technique and safety in the use of instruments, equipment, and by ensuring the rest of the surgical team is complaint with sterile technique. Understand and maintain accurate count of sponges, needles, and assist in the picking of cases.
Has a detailed knowledge of decontamination and sterilization techniques. Has a strong understanding of expectations and compliance of sterility and machine controls and how it can affect patient care. Assist in preparing rooms, in rooms on time, meet turnover targets, and ensure that patient ca! re falls within SCIP criteria. Assist with breaks, notifying P! reâ€"Op and PACU of changes in schedules or delays.
Ensure proper notification of charge nurse if there is a change in patient status or unplanned admission. Inform families of patient status during prolonged procedures. Ensure adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Serve as a role model to promote the SRMC Values, a positive and efficient work environment, and quality patient care.
Will report compliance or equipment issues to department director. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Nursing program (nationally accredited) graduate PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing, or enrolls by 2015 LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: * Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in State of New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by State of New Mexico without restrictions or limitations * RN MATRIX â€" Complete and maintain unit/clin! ic based required certifications and competencies as listed in the department expectations/and or the unit/clinic education matrix * IV Certification * CPR Certification or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position * ACLS Certification or must obtain within 6 months of date of position * PALS Certification or must obtain within 6 months of date of position PREFERRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: * Nationally certified in area of specialty, or within two years of date of hire PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: * Bilingual English/Spanish * Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo EXPERIENCE: * 2 years previous surgical or circulating experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Clinical skills, bedside manner, infection control, nursing skills, physiological knowledge, medication administration, medical teamwork, multitasking, listening, verbal communication, health promotion and maintenance
