RN COORD TRANSPLANT III

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

Description: UNM Hospitals is in need of RN COORD TRANSPLANT III right now, this position will be settled in New Mexico. Responsible and accountable for the independent planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of the potential transplant recipient. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies! and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Accountability:
PATIENT CARE - Assist in specialty clinic; triage patients as necessary in daily walk-in clinic

PATIENT CARE - Coordinate all activities of the specialty related to patient care

PATIENT CARE - Serve as liaison between patient/family and various members of the health care team

PATIENT CARE - Counsel and teach families regarding medical conditions, diagnostic procedures, medication control, and other interventions

PATIENT CARE - Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of services to provide optimal care for the patient within the specialty patient area with specialty surgical procedures

COORDINATION - Collaborate with other members of the specialty team about the candidacy of potential patients

PROGRAMS - Participate in programs and committees related to the specialty or as! directed

EDUCATION - Conduct professional and public! speaking engagements for educational and public relations purposes

TRAINING - Participate in national conferences and workshops associated with the area specialty

REPORTS - Provide statistical reports as needed

SCHEDULES - Regularly rotates on call including holiday, nights and weekends

EVALUATIONS - Review daily lab and diagnostic work on specialty work-up to assist in the direction of the specialty evaluation

EDUCATION - Direct and coordinate educational activities for hospital employees regarding specialty surgeries; assist physician with research projects related to specialty surgeries

PATIENT CARE - Collaborate with community physicians on the daily care of specialty patient

PATIENT CARE - Coordinate diagnostic procedures for complications that occur after specialty surgery in consultation with physician

PATIENT CARE - Direct the management of patient care caseload pre and post operative to provid! e continuity for the specialty patient and their families

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programs

POLICY AND PROCEDURES - Provide input and assist in the formulation of departmental policies and procedures and budget as requested

PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols

PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes

PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk

PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner

PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions! and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or ma! y "not seem right"

Certification Requirements:
RN MATRIX - Complete and maintain unit/clinic based required certifications and competencies as listed in the department expectations/and or the unit/clinic education matrix

Education Requirements:
Nursing program (nationally accredited) graduate

Experience Requirements:
3 years directly related experience

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in State of New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by State of New Mexico

CAP III - Clinical Advancement Program Level III requirements satisfied

CPR Certification for Healthcare Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position

Education Requirements - Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing

Experience Requirements - Preferred:
Bilingual English/Spanish !

Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo

Physical Demands Requirements:
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Testing Requirements:
Tuberculin Skin Test required annually
